Here are some questions that are frequently asked by people who attend or enquire about our course:

Can a 16 year old have driving lessons?

A 16 year old connot drive on a public road unless they receive the higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), or enhanced rate mobility component of Personal Independence Payments (PIP), you can then hold a licence from the age of 16. However, on the course, we have special permission and access to a private road network which allows us to teach basic practical driving techniques to under 17 year olds. Starting to drive in a safe environment with fully qualified driving instructors is a great way to begin.

Do you need a provisional driving licence?

You will not need a provisional driving licence to attend the course. The practical sessions are held on private roads. You can, however, apply for a provisional licence from the age the 15 years old and 9 months (www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence).

Can you help with the driving theory test?

The theory sessions, held in Yate Library (Bristol), aim to supply a lot of information that will be useful for the theory test. We also help the students with techniques on how to best study and where to get information to help them prepare for the theory test and hazard perception.

What age is best to attend the course?

The course is designed for students who are approaching their 17th birthday and are keen to get some driving experience to prepare them for lessons on the the public roads. We have had people attend the course who are older and some that are younger. If you are unsure what is right for your circumstances then please contact us and we will be happy to advise.

How long does the course last?

The course lasts for six weeks - there are six theory sessions on Thursday evenings 6:45pm - 8:15pm and there are three two-hour sessions at weekends during the course
