Under 17 Driving Course – Terms and Conditions
all covid restrictions have now been lifted
- The course is co-ordinated by members of North Avon Driving Instructors Association (NADIA) and supported by South Gloucestershire Road Safety Team and Hanson UK.
- Theory sessions will be held in Yate Library and will consist of 7.5 hours of tuition, led by fully qualified driving instructors covering some of the learning required for the theory test as well as other relevant topics. Information will be presented in an inclusive manner and in a variety of methods i.e. Presentations, team tasks, discussion topics, videos and quizzes.
- Practical sessions at Hanson UK (Chipping Sodbury) site will total 6 hours of in-car practical experience. This time will be spread over the 6 weeks in either 1hr, 90 min or 2hr sessions, on either a Saturday or Sunday morning. The practical sessions will be carried out by fully qualified driving instructors in their own cars, fitted with dual controls and fully insured for off-road tuition. NADIA has full permission to use the premises for this purpose and instructors have undertaken a Health and Safety course to carry out tuition on the premises for the course use only. The practical syllabus includes basic car control, moving off and stopping, changing gear, clutch control, steering and at least one reverse manoeuvre.
- The practical sessions will be carried out with *max 3-1 (student-instructor) ratio. Time in the driving seat will be shared equally between the students during the 6 hours in-car, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn from the rear passenger seats.
- Deposit payment for the course is payable with the application form. The deposit is non-refundable within 4 full weeks of the course start date due to administration and organisational cost, although it may be possible to transfer the application onto another course. The application is not transferable between individuals.
- The balance payment is payable by the first theory session. Once the course had started no refund will be given.
- It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they are able to attend the theory and practical sessions. We will do our best to timetable the practical sessions around the student’s prior commitments. Please inform the course co-ordinator at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the course of any weekend dates that may be a problem – once the course has started it may be impossible to change the practical timetable.
- For the practical sessions, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure they are in a fit state to drive and that if they are taking any medication, to inform their instructor (contact details will be provided). Any information given will be treated in strictest confidence.
- Please inform either the course co-ordinator or practical instructor if unable to attend any of the sessions, or going to be late.
NADIA reserve the right to change any of the above terms and conditions.
Adequate notification will be given if any changes are made.
